With my 2019 Lariat I DO NOT have remote start on the key. However I can remote start start through the Ford app.



My question is:

If I purchase the key below and I enable remote start in Forscan. Can I program this key to work? Or will I need more parts? I'm wondering if it's cheaper to just buy start-x

 

Those two keys work on different frequencies. You will need to buy a module to enable remote start from the key fob.

I upgraded my 500a Lariat with the Ford module.

I then bought this key on eBay to gain the tailgate release feature.

So you bought module and a key and it enabled both remote start and remote tail gate release?

did you program the key yourself? Did you need forscan?

 

You don't need the other fob to gain remote start. You can remote start using the fob you have.

I programmed the new fob myself and the seller has a way to cut the emergency key just by pictures. You already have the remote tailgate release having a Lariat, you just don't have the key to enable it. You can release it from your door keypad. Type in your unlock code to unlock your doors, then press the 4:5 key. Keep in mind, you don't have the tailgate shock, so if you release it it will drop fast.

Since you already have remote start through the app, you shouldn't have to enable anything with Forscan. I didn't. You already have the menus in your display.

 

How can I remote with the FOB I have?

Lock lock lock or lock unlock lock?

The FOB I have doesnt have any options except lock, unlock, and emergency.

 

After you buy the Lock-Unlock-Lock or Start-X module your stock fob will remote start your truck.

 

Ok so I think I get what you're saying. You bought that module to remote start. But you bought that other key mainly so you could use remote tailgate release.

I already bought the damper for the tailgate.

It will still work. Like I said, the remote tailgate release already works from your door keypad. The Start-x just adds remote start.
