Default Refueling a 2015

Truck now has 1600mi on it. Got it 3/23/15

I've fueled it several times with no problem.....Except if it gets real full and the nozzle shuts off and spits 8 or 10 oz of gas on the ground and down the side of the truck.

fast forward to now.

Now I can hardly get any gas to go into the tank...I have to creep it in...7 or 8min. to get 5gal in it...It clicks off at the slightest squeeze of the fuel nozzle.

Now I wonder if some put a obstruction in the darn thing?

Anyone else have this problem?

Bobby

You may have an obstruction in the system (least likely) or the system is not venting properly due to an issue ranging from faulty air return tubing to a canister malfunction. I experienced the same problem on a 2010 Fusion accompanied by a dash warning light and throwing a code. After four visits to the dealer and a replacement of the entire tank filling apparatus, it was finally fixed.

Sounds as if you've saturated the EVAP canister by overfilling too many times.

1st -CLICK- and STOP filling
.

Have you gotten it oil sprayed / under coated? I've seen the vent valve get plugged from that.

No Undercoating.

I was on my way to the dealer and stopped for one last try.

Here is what I discovered. The spring on the nozzle where I stopped was shorter than the others.

Anyway.... It fueled just fine except that Splash at the end from fast fueling and kicking off.

Reading the manual it says fill no more than 2 cutoff clicks and that what I did.

Happy now.

I stop at the first cutoff. Another click or two is going to yield you what? Maybe another mile of driving and maybe a clogged canister. Not worth it.

That said, my current vehicle (2006 Hyundai Santa Fe, the trade-in for my soon to arrive 2015) had a clogged up canister not too long ago. I couldn't put fuel in it beyond a trickle, just as you have described.

In my resident state, only a station employee may refuel your vehicle and cannot add additional fuel beyond the first click. Result? Some customer grumbling, cleaner hands, and lots of pennies in one's change, but fuel spills are rare indeed.

Ah, Oregon, where they allow self-service suicide but won't let you pump your own gas.

Haha. That is the dumbest thing I've ever heard. I think just about every pump I ever use clicks right after I start it is be stuck at the gas station forever. Lol
