Rearview Camera
Thanks BoozeDaily, that sounds promising. I didn't think it was part of the Tech package and I don't really want any of that but I'd like the rearview camera. I also ran across reverse sensing (that sound that beeps when you get close to an object) which is apparently an option too but with the rearview camera it's pretty much redundant.
Then too, when backing up to a line (parking lot) or a wall (garage) the line or object appears on the screen until it disappears under the bumper. If you back up to that point, you've backed into the wall (or the car parked behind you).
The proximity alarm gives you much better warning that you're about to hit something, but the one on our 2015 is nowhere near as good as the one on our 2011 was.
The FRONT is a whole different story - I'm 6'2", and have the driver seat as high as I can get it, and still have trouble judging how close I am to that yellow post in the parking lot. I need a front camera as well, I think.
I've noticed that I back into spaces more commonly than pulling in because I have a camera. I can judge how close I am pretty well with the camera since I use it daily in my garage. I haven't practiced enough to know how close I am up front though. If I can't see the bumper of the car in front of me I think I'm too close when in reality I have a 3 or so feet. Front camera would be nice. Wasn't an option for my XLT.
I can judge where I'm at better in a 11ft tall and 30ft long fire engine with no rearview mirror than I can a 7ft tall 20ft pickup truck. Explain that.

Good point Friartuck, I see what you mean. I'm coming from a 2003 Tacoma with zero tech so this all seems neat but I just found myself constantly looking back and checking mirrors during the test drive.
