I had my leaking pinion seal replaced well before 36,000 miles under warranty. Less than a year later, the howling started and a few months after that, the e-locker came apart and trashed the differential. Took them 9 weeks to get the parts and fix it. So far after putting 5k miles on it, it's doing good. Don't procrastinate and wait to get it fixed. Good luck with it.

My 2018 XLT, 3.5, max tow, 355 rear, was low on lube from new. Had to replace ring and pinion at 85k. ESP warranty covered it. Was about 1.5 pints low. No leaks so I never bothered to check it and the dealer where I bought it new didn't either.

Still has a light howl same thing, on the gas only, quiet when not. Nothing leaking, nothing hot. Seems fine.

I'd get a second opinion on if its the whole diff. From the **** and abuse mine has been through I have to say they are fairly strong.
I really hope its something else like a bearing. Still will be expensive to figure it out. They didnt figure out the howl?

I never considered changing the fluids so early on some of these parts where the suggestion is 100k miles. I'm going to start getting my quotes and hope its not too bad.
