Default Oil Consumption, New Engine Performance

My 2020 XLT will be getting its new engine in the next few weeks. The oil consumption issue, per the service dept., "destroyed" my engine. It's been misfiring for over a year now. My question is to those who have gotten a new engine, how is it going? I've read the issue resurfaces in 15 to 20K miles. My plan is to trade it the day I get it back but I love it so much. Just looking for some feedback.

I see this all the time and have never understood it. someone will fix their vehicle then immediately sell it and buy something different....and then they start the cycle of bringing that one into the shop to get everything fixed on that....once you have a vehicle fixed keep it and stop spending time in the repair shop.

Which is exactly why I'm asking. I have absolutely ZERO desire to go through what I've gone through over the last year with this oil consumption issue. My truck has not run remotely well since October of 22 and the back and forth with Ford and the dealerships has been exhausting to the point of dispect for a known issue with multiple years of these trucks. If it is in fact repaired as you say, then I would keep it. However, if these engines are continuing to be pieces of crap, as I've heard they are, then there is again, ZERO reason to keep it since it is in fact, not repaired and out of warranty. I will not be paying thousands upon thousands of dollars in 15 to 20K for a new engine. If it's crap, then it's crap and your opinion is moot. But hey, thanks for the high and mighty response.

yes, that is the kind of response you will get when you give us little to no information.....we don't even know what engine you have....2.7, 3.3, 3.5, 5.0??? hard to give a reasonable response when you don't give us anything to go by, but good luck with whatever you choose to do.

My 2018 5 L with 28k miles purchased used from a dealer, found to pass oil.
Saw the way it was handled from the reports in all the threads and decided to take it on without involving a dealer who could not do anything about it with foolish factory support directives.
Did technical investigation on the cause, decided on what to try based on the cause. It worked.
Now closing in on 80k, it does not use oil any longer from 50k on and between 5k oil changes.
Full power, no misfires, quiet engine, nothing but great performance.
You might by now, suspect I'm experienced and capable of doing things like this.
What with the technology present in these vehicles, the lack of good dealer ability, poor factory support, and awful parts supply issues, the owner is completely dependent on, you get what you get, out of it.
With the way the country is going down, it won't get better.
You have to be proactive and not be so dependent.
.
As for the replacement engine some had installed , some did have the same issue all over again because the replacement had the same build issue as the original. HOW would anyone know that before t was run.
Bottom line was poor quality control on Block preparation >before< the engine was ever assembled..
Good luck.

No idea which engine you're talking about.

clearly the service advisor didn't trust you with any real descriptive terms or processes. The fact that you would continue to drive a vehicle with misfires lets service techs know you'll believe anything they tell you.

When you see a date between 2018 and 2020 with the word consumption, it can only be but the one engine, 5.0.

Please do share how you resolved the 5.0 oil consumption... curiosity has me interested!

It gets involved such that you have to follow from the root cause to the only attempt that could be applied from the outside with any possibility of good results.
It's not a method that one would think has any merit but is a special case.
Are you willing to do that?
