Rear diff dumb question at this point

May be a dumb question on my part after so many F150s but, if you have the ELD what is the diff when not locked? Open or LSD, I assume regular but that's an assumption on my part. They dont say on the window stickers just ELD and ratio.

Would have to be Open they wouldn't need the ELD if it was a LSD!!

Yep; two different things. An LSD is good for any situation, meaning it slips for turns, etc., for a limited amount. With a locker, there's no slip, so it's for off-road and/or straight line only, and it typically disengages around 20 mph. I much rather have an LSD than a locker, but if you can have both, all the better
. Having said that, I don't personally like the clutch type, but they're by far the most common. I much prefer a torsen type, which doesn't wear like a clutch one, but it's heavier, and more expensive.
