Default Ratio Question

I am ordering a Lariat,4x4 5.0, FX4 sport with the 20" wheels. I am not really planning on pulling much, it will be more of a daily driver.

What gear ratio should I get? I don't know enough about it...this would be my first truck.

Thanks for the help.

3.55. Best for all around driving.

I was in the same boat (3.5 EB) and regret going with the 3.31. Highly recommend the 3.55 and would go with the 3.73 if you are considering taller tires in the future.
The downsides are very few and the advantages are huge.

With the 5.0 I'd say 3.73 cogs

Let's be honest, all will work fine. What are your primary goals? Fuel economy - go 3.31s. Acceleration/power/larger tires - 3.73s. A little of both - 3.55. Personally, I went 3.55 with my 5.0.

3.73! I went from 3.55 to 4.10 and still want more gear.

Towing yes, otherwise no.

At the drive event I drove a 3.5 EB. with 3:31 rear and it felt fine by the seat but towing over 5000 lbs. then you would feel the difference in my opinion.

Even towing it is not bad. I regularly pull 8000 and it is great. The truck has gobs of low rpm power. You will just use 5th gear instead of 6th uphill. 3.31 on the ecoboost is great for lots of highway driving and moderate towing.

If you will be towing like that all day, 3.55 is obviously better. But as a primarily cargo hauler and people mover with weekend towing a few times a year 3.31 is perfect on the Eco.
