However I will say I've had 20% on the front doors of my vehicles for about the last 15 years and never run into an issue. This being in states where the law states it's supposed to be 35 or higher. I just feel like 35 puts it too see through.
That varies state to state. Here in Florida I could have bought a kilo of cocaine in Miami easier than it was for me to get my tint done. Most shops absolutely refused to do it. They claimed they could lose their business license for installing my "illegal" tint.

The one that I finally convinced to do my side and back windows would only do it if I paid cash and didn't need a receipt. He wouldn't touch the windshield, I had to find a shop that was way more "criminal" to do my windshield, lol.

I went with 5% on front doors & 15% on rear factory tinted windows. The rear meters out to 2%.

I went with 35% on the front and 50% on the rear...

Little late to respond - but I totally believe that. Around here there is supposed to be a sticker that goes in between the tint and the window to show it's in compliance with Texas DPS regulations which they just didn't do...so it's on me if I get pulled over... (and I also knew the guy doing it) I paid cash and all was well and good. But I could see some joe off the street coming in they don't know being turned down because they would be worried about a sting or something of that nature.

That looks awesome - but I could never go that dark lol - my old eyes don't have the night vision to be able to see through that.

Really would like the look just couldn't do it at night.

Nice truck!

It was a strange experience for me. I used to live in nj where anything on the front windows was illegal. Every shop I've ever been in there would put whatever you want on the fronts for you. They would tell you that you could be ticked for it, but there was no reprocussions on their end for installing it.

The Florida & Texas way definitely make more logical sense from an deterent standpoint whereas the nj way was more of a "it's your car, I'll do whatever you want since you'll be getting the ticket".

The way I see it, if I ever get pulled over, my driver window will be down anyway

Agreed - it was the same way when I lived in Nebraska - they didn't give a rats **** what they did as long as you paid cash - there was no way of tracing it back to the tint shop.

Plus in NE they didn't have annual state inspections so your chances of getting caught doing it were much lower.

Side note I agree personally with the annual state inspections they do around here - every time I go back I'm shocked by some of the vehicles I see driving around with no bumper or that just look in no condition to be on the freeway. Unsafe for all parties involved...anyways I digress...

I did 35% all the way around with sunfroof and on top of the colored glass. If I were to do it again I'll go darker in the front, but it's legal at 35%. I did 80% on the full windshield which is illegal anyway.

The front windows are not too dark to me. The rear windows are a bit dark at night but perfect during daylight.
