Question Quick Question on Ordering experiences

I've ordered a 2015 XLT with the 302a package, and was initially told they could get me black interior (cloth). After I placed my deposit and what not, they came back and said it couldn't be done, as it was part of the Sports Package for the total black interior.

Does anyone know a way to get that black interior from the sports package onto the 302a luxury package??

It blows my mind that I basically have to choose to get the lesser equipped 2 grand package for black, or the fully loaded 5 grand package, except I can't get the color I want.

Is this something I can contact the manufacturer about? Thanks for any input, experiences, and advice!

according to the build and price site you can add the sport appearance package to the 302A package and it will give you the black sport seats, however you will also change some of the accents from chome to black such as the grill... Not sure if this is right or not but it did let me do it.

With the 302A:

If you add BOTH the Chrome XLT Appearance Package AND the Sport Appearance Package, the build site removes the black seats/cloth.

But if you only add the Sport Appearance Package, you get the black cloth.

Without the Chrome package, you lose the chrome color on the following: the grille, door handles, tow hooks, exhaust tip, and step bars. You also lose the 'chrome-like PVD' wheels', which I believe are just plastic chrome covers over steel wheels.

With the Sport package (only), you get body-colored door handles. bumpers, facia, and wheel mouldings. You get black billet style grille with body color surround and black mesh insert, accent colored steps, chrome exhaust tip, and the 18" Six-spoke machined aluminum wheels with magentic painted pockets.

I was in a similar boat when spec'ing out an XLT. I wanted black cloth but blue jeans exterior. Blue jeans is only available on the non-sport models.

Some of the restrictions make no sense... But in short, black cloth interior is only available on sport appearance packages for XLT.

I really doubt you’ll get ford to alter their configuration on the manufacturing line to accommodate you. But….you could try sending a letter to the CEO…I hear 60% of the time, it works every time.

I also ran into that but with Bronze fire on XLT. black was not an option nor was floor shifter . I called ford customer service and wrote letters all to no avail. finally ordered a lariat to get the black interior but in leather. What color paint did you order?

I highly doubt contacting Ford would work. I'm sure those things are done for a reason. A reason I don't understand. For example: Floor shifter on the XLT sport but not with chrome package, etc.

Best thing to do, price out what it'd cost to get aftermarket black interior. Maybe your dealer can cut you a deal if they offer it?

Mine is blazing blue metallic.

I will check on that though about seeing about swapping out the chrome for the sport portions of the 302a. I'd rather the fully black than the chrome I think. That's the mission for tomorrow! Thanks for the input's and vantage points!
