Quick Question - 2018 Height Issue
I've ordered a new 2018 F150 and just saw one arrive at the local dealership and have a slight worry about the height clearance. My parking garage has a height clearance of 6'8 and based on the options I've picked (2018 4x4 Supercrew w/ max tow package and FX4 off road package) the Ford specs state the height to be ~6'4 (77.2 inches).
I've test driven a 2017 Lariat 4x4 Supercrew in the parking garage and it did in fact seem to have 4-5 inches of spare room so I assumed I was fine but I noticed the new 2018's have a new antenna (I'm assuming for the Wifi hotspot feature). It seems to be a few inches higher than the old one.
Does anyone know how much this new 2018 antenna affects the overall height of the vehicle? It's hard to tell because the antenna seems to be attached where the roof begins to curve forward so I'm not sure if the antenna is actually no higher than the overall roof of the vehicle or not.
Any help is appreciated as the parking garage clearance would be a show stopper for my order, and I'm already in love with the vehicle on order!
Thanks again!

I've got a 2015 FX4 with a 2.5" level kit installed & satellite antenna and our garage Is also marked as 6'8". I clear without any issues - except for the extremely annoying FM antenna. I even cut it down about 4" and it still hit. Why can't they put that darn thing in the glass!

My parking garage has a max clearance of 6'8". Antenna hits on some of the pipes in the garage, but I don't care. I also use it as a warning for height clearance if I'm about to enter a space with no max clearance indication. If the antenna hits, I know I risk not clearing the area, and I'll stop before the cab roof goes under to visually see if I can clear the area.

Wow, if your garage is 80" and your truck is 77", I wouldn't even try it. Floor repairs or cracked concrete can lessen the overall height of the garage causing damage to your truck and the garage. Truckers have to really watch when going under overpasses as road build up can lessen the height and most signs don't reflect new construction, only original height. Time to find a new place to park. I always love the garages in downtown Chicago, you never know what their height is until you pull into them, then backing out is fun with a lot of one finger salutes from the friendly (crime) city people.

My 2018 at the highest point (C-Pillar) is 77". In the front, where the Sat antenna sits, its 75". I would expect the height of Sat antenna to be 76.5" since it looks to be about 1.5" tall. Note I do have a 2" leveling kit, so I would guess yours will be a bit lower than mine.
I drive a 1996 F150. I work in a place with outdoor parking so no problems there, but I usually find myself in Boston, Providence, Hartford, Worcester etc. on weekends because I love attending sports games (major and minor league). Cities in New England sure love parking garages. Been doing it long enough I generally know which ones I can fit in and which ones to avoid.
My one piece of advice to anyone who is new to parking garages or doesn't use them very often is that height clearance signs are not always accurate. I've parked in so many garages in a dozen different cities so it's hard to remember exactly where some of these are, but I remember a few garages with a posted height clearance of 6'8" (which I can fit fine) only to enter and have it be more like 6'5". A couple examples, the 100 Clarendon Street Garage in Boston has a halfway decent rate for Red Sox parking. Posted height clearance is 7'0" but I swear it's more like 6'7". In Worcester, one of the two DCU Center garages (the newer one across the street) has a height clearance a couple inches shorter than posted. The most frustrating thing is when a venue will have several different parking options all with different prices but the one with the best price I don't fit in, so I have to choose a more expensive garage just based on the height clearance. That really grinds my gears.
I wish every garage was at least 7'0" then everyone without a lift would mostly be fine
