I believe (not 100% sure) but I think in california, it is permissable to tint the front windshield. And its silly to think that the glass is gonna burst from heat.........the same heat that glass is made from.

The only thing that is legal here in California is a 4" strip on the top part of the windshield. I doubt any police officer would give you a problem if it was a little wider. I have 5% tint all the way around and never had an issue with the police.

The windshield glass in laminated. Basically meaning, that they sandwich two layers of glass between a type of vinyl or plastic. When the windshield is heated too much in one area using a heat gun, it is quite possible to crack the glass. All the other windows are tempered and do not require the same care when using a heat gun. The FULL windshield is able to be tinted by a experienced installer using minimal heat and lots of cooling water.

Silly would be me telling you how to wire the electrical in a house.

Maybe this will answer your question. I put 15% on the fronts and and an extra layer of 15% on the back sliding window. The rear door windows are stock.

Local tint shop here wants $100.00 plus tax to tint the 2 front windows to match the rest of the truck...and will do the entire truck quite dark for $300......

$100.00 seems a tad on the high side for 2 windows....

It's definitely enough but if they do a flawless job and use a high quality film then it's not unreasonable. $300 for the entire truck is pricey.

So, I'm ordering a 2015 Tuxedo Black Platinum, and the only option I'm going to add after the fact is tint. I'll probably just have the dealer send it off if they will, or I'll take it in somewhere. Other than that I'm just going to enjoy it for a while.

So, I know most folks get the front window with a sun stripe, and the front side windows with whatever tint is legal where they're at. My question is this: how many folks have gotten the tint put over the existing tint in the back? I was thinking about doing the 20% maximum allowed here in the Seattle area, but doing it all around. So the back would be 20% on top of whatever comes from the factory. I'm curious on who's done that and how it's worked out.

Thanks!
I did 30% all around with the factory tint. Love it. Don't do the stripe on the front. :p

I got limo ceramic on rear window and back doors, 20% on front doors and 5% on windshield strip for $300.

I didn't do it for looks, but for heat. Something everyone should know: Factory tint on the back windows isn't tint, it is dyed glass. It doesn't stop the heat. I got 35% in front, and 70% on the back and back-sides. This stops most of the heat and UV, but doesn't make it hard to see at night.
