I just had all four side windows done in a 2015 plat SCREW, plus my double moonroof. Here is the deal: if you want a cooler truck in the summer, then I highly recommend CERAMIC TINT. I did a demo at my local window tint dealer with a heat lamp, and it was almost unbelievable. Even the clear film in ceramic knocks the heat down by about 40%. I had the installer tint (w/ ceramic tint) the front two side windows and moonroof, and he installed clear ceramic in the back two side windows (since it did not need to be darker then the factory tint) just to help keep the heat down. I also did the eyebrow over front windshield, but just in normal tint.
You gotta see it to believe it, but when you do (and if you want to limit heat from the sun in the cab) then you will be installing this ceramic stuff too.
Cost? Ceramic tint in my region is $75 per window, and the double moon roof was $200. The ceramic cost the same, clear or tinted, and does not mess with your cell phone or electronics. i also hear that it makes the windows stronger/bond together better in the event of an accident
I have Llumar Ceramic Tint on the windshield of my current truck. It does help reduce the heat on the dash and in the cab. Will have it on my 2015 also. Have had no problems with it.
I had the Detailer to tint the front to match the existing rear tint, and add the eyebrow on the windshield. Not sure what the % is on the front, nut it is ever to slightly lighter than the rear. Looks great IMO. A good Detailer will know what to do. This guy did a great job.
Only problem is your front window. That's where most of the heat comes from. Typically, tinting the front windshield is difficult to do without shattering the glass. I could see it helping some, but very little. Until the front window can be heated to shape the tint no film will do a great job at keeping the heat out. All windows need coverage.
How does the windshield glass shatter on the front? If it happened a lot, wouldn't tint shops refuse to tint the fronts?
Iv got 5% all the way around over 20% on the two fronts and 5% in the back. 5% windshield brow.
Just pay attention when you are driving and you will be fine.
Me too. I always tint over the factory tint and can see at night with no problem. I just had mine done today, so I haven't taken any pictures after the tint job. Its not supposed to be sunny until middle of next week here, so I'll take some more then.
Make sure you go with a ceramic tint. It costs a bit more, but keeps out more heat. DON'T LET THE DEALER TINT IT. They only get the cheapest tint and charge twice, if not three times what a shop will charge you. Trust me, my first job out of high school was a window tinter.

Not to Hijack.....my dealer tried to tell me the new read sliding window was difficult to tint....anyone with comments on that? Thanks!
Want to get 15 all around.....which would make the rear nice and darker
Also...anyone tinting their moonroof?

My installer had no problem. In fact, he said I could open it right away as they were 2 separate windows.

I mean tinting the whole windshield. The windshield is not meant to take the heat required to shrink window film to the same contour as the windshield. An eyebrow on the top or bottom of the windshield, requires little to no heat to shape to the same contour.
I've always tinted over the factory privacy glass. What matched best on my 2010 was putting 50% on the rears and back and 20% on the fronts. Fronts matched the back almost perfect.
My wife's jeep was done the same way and seems darker.
The total area of window changes how dark the tint looks. Jeeps got smaller windows and looks much darker than my truck done by the same shop with the same tint and same percentages.
This is important to remember. On the new F150s I think a 50 on the backs and 15 on the fronts would match better than mine does at 50 and 20.
I think the factory smoked glass should always be tinted over. A lot of people think that factory glass is tinted but its really more for privacy than heat and uv.
I put 40% Huper Ceramic on rears, fronts and pano, 60% on windshield. Installer did a great job, can't tell the windshield is done....now to see if it truly keeps the truck cooler. Wanted cooler interior and not concerned about same depth of darkness all the way around. Also had my detailer apply Pinnicle Black Diamond ceramic paint sealant.....great result, will see if it lives up to the hype. Speaking of the factory tint, does anyone have specs on UVA, UVB and heat rejection? I'm guessing it's just dark glass.
