Default Question about tow mode

I have a 2017 F-150 Lariat. Whenever I first start it up its always in tow mode. How do I change this so it will stay on a setting showing the speed??

Thanks

Do you have anything plugged into the trailer power plugs, either of them? If so the truck automatically goes into tow/haul mode. It could be something like a brake light strip, whatever, doesn't have to be a trailer. When the truck detects power load it assumes a trailer and activates tow/haul.

Other reason I think I have read this can happen is if you use Forscan to deactivate Auto Start/Stop, as it actually deactivates one of the modules, but I may be wrong on that one.

I have nothing plugged in. Just got the truck about 2 weeks ago.

Does it actually put the truck into tow/haul mode, or does it just bring up the towing status screen? My 2015 brings up the tow status screen, but I have to put it into tow/haul mode if I want that.

Does your Auto Start/Stop work, assuming you have a 2.7L or 3.5L? If not, or every time you start the truck the button says it is OFF, the previous owner may have used FORSCAN to turn it off. I am assuming it had a previous owner as it's a 2017 and you just got it.

Only other reason I can think is you have an issue with the truck and it's incorrectly thinking you have a trailer attached.

Same question, I have never had either of my trucks put it in Tow/Haul mode at start up. The trailer setup screen though, that comes up when a trailer is connected.

Oh that's a good point, maybe he is just confused by the configurable screen. If so, you just need to press down through all the options and it should have something that says like "Configure MyView" or whatever it's called. In there you can select and order what screens appear.

It brings up the towing status screen on the dash.

In that case the truck thinks you have a trailer connected. Might want to crawl under and look at the connection to the plug in the bumper. It may have corrosion or just be loose. Wouldn't be the first I heard of a loose plug back there.

Default Towing Screen vs Drive Mode

On my 2018 Lariat (501A) I recently did some towing and yes, every time I started, it went over to the towing status screen. There was no change to the drive mode, that defaulted to normal each time. I didn't have enough trailer or weight to bother with changing the drive mode.
