We may as well put the Double Honk threads to bed. All manufacturers gotta have it. It all stems from numerous Deaths from people parking their cars in their garages at home and forgetting to turn off the ignition (easy to do when you get used to not using a key to start your vehicle). They died when the fumes filled their houses. The honks can save lives.
I posted a couple times that I really believe the best solution for those of us who are only exiting for a few seconds...or couple minutes ....i.e. To check the mailbox.....is to not shut the door tight. Just leave it ajar...it doesnt honk twice until you close it tight.
