Question Purchasing Help

Hello!

Purchasing a truck for my fiancé. We've ready discussed which truck would meet our needs. I just would like to get an opinion on this deal.

2016 F-150 5.0 V8 XLT Sport
4x2 Supercrew
Equipment Group 302A
MSRP before discounts: $47,235

VIN: 1FTEW1CF5GKF67006
Dealer Zip: 77845

OTD Price: $39,000

Do you all think this is a good price? I appreciate any input.

I just picked up a 2016 F150 4x4 Extended cab 302A. MSRP was $43,745 and got for $34,998. almost $9000 off and they threw in a bed liner and installed mud flaps. That was an internet price that was emailed to me which included $6,000 in rebates. I got them to throw in the bed-liner and flaps when I sat down at the dealer. Out of the 5 or 6 dealers I contacted only one gave me the discounted price in an email. All the others replied to my internet price inquiry with a follow up email asking when I would like to stop in and talk, without giving me a price.

There are endless threads asking if it's a good price. The answer is:

Pay invoice, less some/all of dealer holdback, less all applicable rebates. That's a good deal. Anything else is not as good.

And OTD cannot include any taxes, fees, etc if you're comparing.

sounds high to me but in july there was better rebates on the XLT sport packages. mine with 302A ,nav and panoramic roof was 34 before trade haggling etc. that was dealer discount and rebates. with trade and adding gap,6yr/100k bumper to bumper I was at 36k drive out total. msrp on mine was 47k. its a 4x2 Screw XLT 5.0V8

Ricktwuhk has it right.

Go back to the dealer, and ask what the invoice price and rebates are. Then do your math:

invoice price - rebates = sales price

Add taxes and fees to that and you have your OTD price.

That would an acceptable price, but by no means a deal. Subtract another $2,000 off that price to cut into their holdback for a good deal. It's a 2016, probably been sitting on the lot for a bit, they might go for it especially if you approach them at the end of the month. They'll want to make one more sale for the month, AND the 2017 models are now on their lot. Plus it's a 4x2, so lower desirability.
