If you have the white work lights on your mirrors, you can fold the mirrors and turn on the work lights and get pretty good illumination around the truck, better than the puddle lamps. I've done this on dark driveways and campsite parking spots. I also installed an extra backup light in the hitch receiver that helps a lot, but not to the sides of course.
