Maybe my truck being a Platinum is a little different. I do not believe my truck has the output settings, low, medium and high. No I am not sure my trailer brakes are set properly, by that I am assuming that I need to try adjusting them tighter as in older cars and try again. I think this is what you are referring to. There is no difference in the trailer brake controller in the 2015 - 2020 MY, XL to Platinum trim levels, they are all the same. If that u-tube isn't specific to your truck do a search. It would be good to check the trailer brakes, they often get mal-adjusted or the operating magnet fails. It should be part of your regular trailer maintenance.
As you found, if you put your truck info in your signature it makes it easier for someone to give answer.

If you go in trailer setting on the dash, it has something like brake effort level. You can select normal, medium, high. But I don’t think that would have anything to do with a delay.

They are also velocity sensitive with how much output you get. We’re you just testing signal or driving?

And as said, all the 15-20 trucks have the same trailer brake controllers. Year or trim doesn’t change that.
