Default Program 2018 key

I want a third key/fob to put in my travel trailer when traveling. I went and got a fob with the blank uncut. A local locksmith took care of the machining for me. I tried many times following the program procedure in my manual for the three button fob with no success. One thread I read where this was discontinued in 2018 My trucks? Anyone else experience the same issue? Can this be done using FORscan?

It is disabled on 2018. Even a third party place that sells and programs chip keys could not program my 2018. The ONLY option I found to successfully do it was the dealer .... in my case that cost $100

I can program keys at my shop. You need to be a licensed locksmith and have an account with NASTF which tracks all key transactions. Supposedly to stop theft, to me, it's another way to charge people and make money. If a customer comes in I will need a license and registration to provide this service.

Well that's not good to hear. Here I thought I was going to ditch the dealer.
I was told by the finance guy when I signed the papers I was entitled to a new key once a year. I was in for service last week and asked for a key. When the service writer said it wasn't in the 'puter for me I went out front looking for the guy. In front of the sales manager he did a moon walk on me and denied telling me that.

Sounds like a typical salesman.
