Default Problems starting 15

Have a 15 with the 5.0 . When it is hot it sometimes cranks for 10 seconds or longer, then runs very rough. It sounds to me as though it is vapor locking, but my dealer doesn't agree, probably because his computer didn't suggest it. Truck is currently at the dealer for the third time.

Anyone else have any similar problems?

Make sure your 5.0 has the fuel rail/line foam insulation covers on both sides of the top of the engine like mine pictured above.

Hopefully they'll find the issue. I'm on my 2nd 5.0. No issues with either one.

The insulators are primarily for NVH (Noise Vibration Harshness), and while they may (?) provide insulation, they would also act to impede cooling.

Just ca
Me back from visiting the dealer. They are now of the opinion that it is in the variable can timing. Probably going to replace actuators and phaser. I don't know much about that or how it works. I hope they are correct.

Is that the same phaser cam problems they had with the 5.4 motor? I would think the new 5.0's would not have that issue?

When I first saw this post I was gonna say I had sorta the same problem but the more I thought about it, I thought na, that's not my same issue.

Mine would shudder / vibrate on starts, especially warm starts.

Anyway, it was the overhead cam phasers on the left cylinders. Don't remember if it was one cylinder or all of them.

They had the truck for three weeks waiting on parts. I wasn't too excited about having my new truck torn down to the heads but it runs great now.

Hope they get it figured out.
