Thanks! Just seems like Ford makes this harder than it has to be or when compared to other updates on software or products I own.

Appreciate everyone's help here.

Did you put the license for in the SyncMyRide folder on the USB drive? If not, you will get failure messages.

Yes, I dropped the separate license file into the folder as per the instructions.

OK, seemed ok so far but when I went to pull the truck into the parking area in front of our garage ( we leave it out front of our driveway gate during the day) I started it and got a message that updates still need to be finished and to reinstall the USB drive! Crap,. I thought it was done. It was late and we were about to eat dinner. I will try to reinsert the USB tomorrow and see what happens.

Just one last followup. I called Ford and spoke with someone in the Sync help department. He said to try what he called a lock start procedure. He told me to remove the USB stick, start the car, turn it off, open the door, hit the door lock button, shut the door and wait a minute and then restart. Then I was supposed to reinsert the USB drive.

I did all this and still got the Error Code BGMAP_ERR01

He had told me I might still get the code and if I did to go into my general settings and do a factory reset. He said after that was done to try inserting the USB. He said it sounded like most of the update had happened but somehow it was not completed.

So I did the factory reset and reinserted the USB. This time it said System Updating so I went for a drive again, after 15 minutes it rebooted and said it was still updating so I drove for about 30 minutes and finally got the message that the update was successful and that after I turned the engine off and restarted everything would be done. So I did and now I don't have any error messages so I guess I got it done right this time.

The only draw back to a factory reset is you lose all your Sirius Radio station presets and I had to go into the Ford owner App and re-register my truck. Haven't noticed anything else needing to be reset but I'm sure I'll find something.

Thanks to everyone for your help.
