I've been frustrated with this feature since I got the truck and found it was useless on backing my 5x8 landscape trailer into the driveway.It just won't cut the trailer sharp enough to make the driveway. Some have suggested the trailer is just too small. Has anyone else been successful with using this feature with smaller trailers? Maybe a 5x10 works? I'll get a slightly larger trailer if that is what it takes.

 

 

I find the small trailers harder to back up than the longer ones. Slightest turn of the wheel and the trailer is sideways.

 

My 10' backs up fine.

 

So its just another useless **** on the dash?
I guess Ill just turn my head.

I have this feature on my truck and I don't think I could expend the time and effort to try and make it work.
My owners package came with some weird checkered decals strips...I suspect those are to "calibrate" the one of my 5 trailers...

 

This sounds plausible. I have a 5x10 and the pro assist does not cut very sharp at all. I also setup mine on a 6x12 v nose enclosed and it doesn't cut any sharper. If I need to cut sharp I have to go old school and do it the old fashioned way (which I do most times anyway). Only time I use it much is if I need to back straight up a driveway for an extended length as it makes it easier.

Mike , so you have a 5x10 landscape? And it turns sharp enough to make the driveway? This would be from a standard 90 degree turn from street to driveway.

 

start your reversing from further forward, if you get what I mean. I've used the feature once. I find I don't have to 'prepare' to back up as much if I just do it manually rather than set up for the pro trailer backup.

Hey I can't even use the backup camera much less the trailer one and I back a boat about every other day.I like and trust the old fashion way but man my neck don't turn like it used to
