Default Pro Comp Pro Runner SS Shocks

Hey Fam,

EPag here with another product review! Was looking at getting some Fox 2.0s for my truck, but since they seem to be on backorder from most places I decided I would take a stab at something different.

Ended up getting a set of Pro Comp Pro Runner SS rear shocks from AutoAnything for $149 total ($69.99 each). I could've gotten them for $129 from US Auto Parts, but didn't realize I could use a coupon code until after I ordered them. Oops. They come with a lifetime warranty and 90 day ride satisfaction guarantee. If I don't like the ride, I can send them back within 90 days and get a full refund, no questions asked. Worth a try.

*some of these pictures came out all jacked up and I have no idea why*

Here's some pictures of the boxes and the shocks themselves.

Only complaint I have so far is that the shock sticker was basically wadded up and stuffed in the box. Not cool man.

Removal of the doodoo shocks was pretty straightforward. No surprises here.

Now for the install.. In my mind, the easiest way to do this is to bolt the shock to the top mount, then bottom. Since the shock was strapped shut and was already pretty close to the bottom mount, I positioned it to line up then cut the strap. As it extended, I guided it towards the mount and then pushed the bolt through the mounting holes when it was lined up.

First time went really well. On the second shock, I missed and had to manhandle it in the old fashioned way.

Do it for both sides and you have the finished product.

I'm about to go to the store so I'll update you guys on the ride! I don't consider myself much of a suspension ride snoot, so if they're better than stock I'll be happy. Might not be as good as Fox but they were half the price.

Thanks for looking!

I have the Pro Comp Pro Runner Series Shocks as part of the Pro Comp Stage 2 6" Lift Kit and have been pleased with the overall ride quality of these shocks when paired with Pro Comp's coil over front suspension.

Nice!

I'm looking forward to seeing your update on ride quality - looking to replace my shocks with something...anything...other than the stock poo poo

Can't argue with the price if the ride quality is nice...

They look good! But not as good as the socks and sandals look!

Nice job. They look good. Just curious, can you mount these upside down or is it the same both ways? I've never installed any and am looking to.

The sock/sandal combo is my signature move! Have to include them in all of my product reviews.

Initial thoughts on the shocks: pretty disappointed. Honestly it feels exactly the same. I originally meant to install the shocks body up, so I just finished up switching them to see if that makes a difference. I'll know when I drive into work at 5 tomorrow morning so I'll update this A$AP. So far not looking so good!

If that's the case, these will probably be going back soon. To me at least (personal opinion here) having them body down didn't do much to improve the ride.

Sorry to hear they didn't work out. If you are looking for the Fox 2.0, I noticed this morning that Super duty head quarters showed having them, but they are a little pricey plus shipping.

I've noticed the socks/sandals before in the dual exhaust chrome tip thread lol.
