Default Priority Code 19 on my ordered Super Duty. Why??

As some/most of you know, I put in an order for an F350 last week and the dealer has me on Priority Code #19. Has anybody gotten their truck at the 6-8 week mark or more like the 10-12 week mark with that code? When I ordered my 18 F150 earlier this year, the priority code was a 10. I asked the dealer about the 19 code and they told me that's the lowest that they can go and cant change it to a 10. I don't know if they're full of it or not. It's my second special ordered truck in less than a year from the same dealer. If it's going to take longer than 8 weeks, I'll probably cancel the order or just have them keep the truck. I know that lower the priority code, the sooner that you will get your vehicle in most cases. Thanks in advance.

The assigned priority is a VERY SMALL part of how long it takes to get a vehicle built. 8 weeks is actually a very short time to get a truck built... I believe most dealers quote 12-14 weeks or so. If your expectation is 8 weeks or bust, especially for a Super Duty (which dealers are having trouble even keeping in stock due to demand), you're likely going to be disappointed.

Could it be the time of year?? I would love to have the truck before Christmas or a little after, but who knows. I know the plants shut down the last 2 weeks of the year. Maybe I should have went to a different dealer that has a higher allocation? There is a dealer locally that a high volume truck dealer. I dont lnow if that would have made a difference or not

I ordered a 250 around the beginning of October. Salesman text me a couple days ago and said that it would be in around November 12. So that's about the 6 week mark. It's for a business and we buy 1 per year, but it isn't always a Ford so I doubt I'm getting any preferential treatment. I have no idea what my priority code is.

I won't profess to be an expert, but would offer the following cautionary tale and recommendation that follows:

We decided in late Spring to order a Ford Fusion Energi. Not all Ford dealers can sell Energi's, so we we asked the two that could. One said "we cannot order a Fusion Energi for 2018". No explanation, but clearly their allotment was gone. They made no offer to dealer trade, so we ordered via the other dealer. They said that their factory dealer rep would be all over the order to get it made, using allocation from elsewhere in the region. About a month later, they fessed up and said it wasn't really ordered, because they had no allocation left, and the rep was looking for an order by someone else that matched ours. Yeah, that's not going to happen... So they ordered a 2019, which wasn't even starting production until late August. Then it turns out that Ford is going to make the dealer vehicles before the private orders, hold them, verify quality, and then ship. Dealer ordered a matching one as a dealer order.

As we approached mid-September (we ordered first week of May, sold our older Fusion in late May, so had just the truck for 4 months), it became clear that the 2019 wasn't going to arrive until the end of September, and the incentives were unknown, and the factory rep made no attempt to find out what they might be, even "comparable" was not forthcoming. We found a 2018 400 miles away that matched except for one option, and had the dealer go get it and took delivery 9/21. In early October the 2019 incentives came out and the 2019 arrived, and it would have been a hair cheaper...

Mine had 19 also. For the largest dealer in the Great Lakes region, they had no allocation left...

Moral of the story, ask your dealer this question - "Do you have any allocation remaining to order a 2018 F350"?

Why do you care about 2-4 weeks for a truck that you're going to keep for multiple years? I guess I am struggling to understand why it matters that much.

Your ordering dealer controls the priority codes from 10 to 99. Lower than that requires the zone manager to get involved. Ask them why your priority is 19.

Priority can mean a lot depending on the dealers allocation.
