Default PPF Installation & Costs

Anyone who's had some PPF installed, list what kind of price you paid and where all you had it installed. I just got the truck and am thinking about getting it on the bumpers and front end at least, but considering other areas as well.

Secondly, should I clay, wash, wax/seal truck before having it installed or just let them install it as is and then wax/seal over the PPF the same as I do the rest of the truck in the future? I'm not sure I really even see the need to clay the truck as my paint seems pretty clean. Definitely won't need to swirl mark remove/buff it as I haven't seen any swirls.

Thanks for all the tips/suggestions...

Im paying $750 for front end. They covered first 10" of hood, grill, bumper, the A pillars, door handles and cups. They will do all prep.
I did warn them that I am finicky about my truck and I expect it washed first and a perfect install. It goes in tomorrow at 8am. I'll let ya know how things went Tuesday when I pick it up.

I found a shop that does a lot of clear bras and windows tints. They have a ton of good reviews.

I had mine done at Ziebart and they did great. Got complete front end 18" up the hood and fenders for $500. The did clay bar, clean and wax prior to PPF installation.

My wife's new 2017 Escape is going in next Monday for same.

About $750 for 22" hood, painted surfaces on front / bumper, headlights, fog lights and side view mirrors.

I pulled it off the chrome caps on the side mirrors as I didn't like the look.

Get the paint as perfect as possible before taking it in. Decontaiminate (IronX), clay bar, machine polish if any swirls present and then use something to remove any polish residue. A good installed should clay bar at least again but I'd rather know what it was going in.

I would recommend washing the truck before bringing to them. I know my guy locally requests that you have it clean and swirls removed before install. I dont blame him, he's not a detailer.

I've had PPF on my last two cars and the only thing I would recommend is to find a dealer with XPEL ultimate. I looked at other films and I really liked the quality over 3m, suntek, etc...

Of I were to wash and clay the truck before taking.. Can I use wax or sealant before taking it t them? I think sealant takes 24 hours to cure though...

Also is iron x safe for our chrome including the wheels?

I got Expel on my entire front end (headlights included) and about 4" on the hood, door edges and door handles for like $550.

Has anyone had the chrome portions wrapped aka grill, bumper chrome portion, etc? What's the overall opinion of this vs just the painted. How bad does the chrome chip from rocks/etc (I'm sure its mostly plastic under).

Its like applying a sticker, no wax or sealants on the part thats going to be applied to as it will bond best directly to the clear coat.
