Default Power Programmers/Chips

Hello everyone,

I drive a 16' SCREW and recently added 34" tires on my factory 20" rims with a 2.5" leveling spacer. I know the speedometer is now slightly off, and I speculate that in turn is throwing off the MPG calculator.. I'd really like to buy something to reprogram all this but I feel like if I'm spending that money I should be in the market for something that I can also use to re-program my computer to get more MPG, more power, better towing, etc. At the same time, the truck is still under warranty and I really don't want to void it... So with that being said... what does everyone think my best option is? I'm looking for:

-speedometer correction
-economy boost
-multiple programs
-E87 capability
-easy to use
-Spares my warranty
-Doesn't hurt my wallet too badly

Forscan can take care of the speedo issues and do *many* other things... there's a huge stickied thread about it. Start there. The Right Answer is the OBDLink MX for your interface. That's an $80 module for everything.

If you want to tune it, that's an entirely different story. You pay to play. There are many people who have blown motors and Ford covered them despite the tune... there are also many that ate a $10K bill. If you want to 100% protect your warranty, tuning is out. If you do decide to go the tune route, I'd suggest 5Star, Livernois, or MPT. That's a $500 option. You don't mention which motor you have... keep in mind that there's not as much "tune-ability" in the 5.0, so if that's what you have, don't expect the massive gains that you can get out of the Ecoboost options.

You mention E87 capability... are you referring to E85? If so, that's not a computer reprogramming - you have to replace parts, and generally isn't recommended. This certainly will void your warranty - plus E85 is really only useful if you're racing the truck and trying to get maximum performance, which is doesn't appear you're trying to do.

Check out 5* tuning through Stage3 Motorsports. They offer a drivetrain warranty with the tune.

*ETA: I picked up the tuner and a 5yr/60k mile warranty for $889.00 on sale this weekend.

I have had a tuner on my truck for 10 years.. had all kinds of warranty work done. As long as they can’t blame the problem on the tuner your good.

+1 for forscan to do the speedo correction
I have a 2017 5.0 and I use the Omega tune from http://tuningbyoz.com/ I really enjoy the tune. Even though your not going to get the gains from a tune on a 5.0 the drivability from the tune is night and day. Stock shift points and rev limiter suck.
I had a 2014 3.5 eco and there is nothing like driving a nicely tuned eco. The Omega tune is also available for the eco. Nice thing about it is being able to get whatever fuel I want without ever having to worry about changing tunes for octane.

Agreed. I did this after installing larger tires to adjust the speedometer and remove the factory conservatism. I started with tire size as a baseline, and then used GPS speed to get the speedometer to read correctly.

Also agreed. Shift points and driveability improved even over the factory tune with OEM tires. I was hoping for an improvement in MPG, but ultimately, it just didn't get any worse than before the tune.

Read his sig. He has a 5.slow:
"2017 F-150 5.0L XLT Sport package, 36gl tank, Supernova V3 LED heads, Profile Peak turns, OMEGA tune."

Omega doesn't list the 3.5EB on their site, and I couldn't find anything about it.
