I have the FX4 and don't like chrome at all. I have plastic-dipped all exterior pieces that were not black or Ruby Red. I bought the AMP black steps for this reason too.

If you look close to the edge you will see a groove running the length of the board. this is where the "C" shaped chrome piece slides in.
I really think if you remove the end cap you can just slide the chrome piece out of the OEM power board and then have the black texture look you see in my step in the picture.

yeah i saw on AMPs website how you could add the chrome piece later and it just slid on. so i'm hoping if it does come with it that it is easily removed or i'll go the plastidip/paint route

Or... order it with the fixed running boards, pay the same $1k for aftermarket AMP running boards, sell the fixed running boards for $300 on the forum/CL and come out ahead.

I ordered a Platinum that comes with power running boards. I just hope they are nice as the AMP ones that I now have. The AMPS seem to deploy lower making them more useful and the light is nice also.

Can you get the powerboards on a lariat? I thought it was a platnim option only?
