Default Powder Coating

New to the forum! Was thinking of powder coating my 2018 F150 STX lead foot grey stock 20" rims. Not sure how the stock rims would look black and was wondering if anybody has done this. Aslo anybody recommend a certain black ie satin, gloss, matte?

Contact your local powder coating shop. Many do wheels on a regular basis and may let you lay them against the tire in their parking lot for a visual reference of “house” black. You’ll get the best deal using a color they already do high volume on. They can sneak your stuff onto a bigger run.

The black color will depend on what you're looking to do to the rest of the trim, you already have gloss on your grill, but your mirrors, bedside rails, and tailgate trim are matte, and from the photo, the running boards look satin. Can't tell if you did a vinyl wrap on your door pillar trim, but that's usually gloss.

X2 on check with a local powder coater and check out their standard black with what you have. I am definitely having my wheels done, but can't be without the truck for too long a time, so I'll probably be waiting till spring to do them.

Nice looking rig BTW!

My first mod would be to install some non-Satan running boards.

I'm currently awaiting a quote and turn around time from my local shop. Thanks for the info with using their "house" black and going to the shop to potentially match it up! I'm thinking a satin as it has some matte look with a little gloss judging by some pics I've seen. Just unsure if I'll like these rims black or if I'm better off buying a set I like. Price differential is the problem lol

If your unsure of powder coating why don't you try plastidip on one wheel to see how it looks, if you don't like it just peel it back off?
