Default Post your Drive Event feedback and pictures here!

Looking forward to member reviews, impressions and opinions on the upcoming test drives. I've already made up my mind that I want the 5.0, so I will be specifically comparing the sound and feel of all the trucks I test drive. Watching other people doing test drives and running the 1/8th mile in some parking lot just doesn't compare to buckling yourself in and feeling the torque and acceleration.

The other thing I want to compare are the regular headlights compared the higher optioned Lariats and Plats. Also the side step bars, wondering if they feel more sturdy and rigid compared to the '14 models...?

2015 Ford F-150 test track

Note from the driver:

Paul Sayler

"This was during the Built Ford Tough Roundup 3 in Minneapolis, MN. I know, your first thought is "it is a Ford test so we are going to put Fords in a position to win"...I was the same. But, the fact is, the Ford handled better than ALL the competition...including the Ram Eco-Diesel, Chevy 5.3 and Chevy 6.2. I think when everyone sees the process our aluminum boys are made, you will see that the "beer can" jokes really don't make sense. A great example would be: take a 1" piece of oak and see what it takes to break it. Then take a 1.75" of "weak" pine and see which one takes more force to break. This isn't new technology guys! I was surprised to learn that in 2004 Ford first started playing with aluminum alloys...but didn't perfect it until 2015. Think...NO RUST, MORE DURABLE,and MORE CAPABILITY!"

Had my Sign and Drive event today in Seattle. The event was held inside Safeco field baseball stadium. The way it was set up, they didn't allow you time to really sit and push buttons or open the hood/ tailgate up, etc. Basically there was a line of people waiting, and you drove it around the baseball diamond once. Not much more than 5mph. But, being that I have wanted to see this sucker in real life for a long while, and there was some free swag (t-shirt), and free food, I thought it was worth the trip. Here are my thoughts and a few pictures. Sorry I didn't take more, but like I said, there was a line, and I didn't want to hold people up as I snapped away.

So, general thoughts and observations with my very limited time....

Silver, Lariat (mid group of options), Screw, 3.5 EB.

1) The feel of the aluminum--- Felt weird to the touch. You can easily push it in, and it springs back. For sure doesn't feel like the normal metal skin on a truck. It felt like someone put a layer of squish/ tacky rubber coating on a piece of metal. It wasn't bad, just odd. If felt like it was well crafted, and solid construction. In fact, the way the skin kinda bent in and rebounded out, I see it could really cut down on door dings. It seemed very resilient.

2) Retractable running boards--- Nice width, quiet, extending and retracting was smooth and quick, was at a good spacing to be useful getting in and out of the seat. Which, being that I carry concealed, is good for me to drop down in the seat, verses sliding across. I would definitely purchase.

3) Quiet!--- Once I closed the door, wow! Almost no noise. Sure, I wasn't gunning the engine, but overall it was impressive.

4) Dash/ Gauges--- Very nice. The 8" info screen in the middle was crisp and clear. I'm sure I'm going to have fun with it. I felt like I was in a bit of a fighter cockpit. Fancy electro gadgets, but still had a nice "truck" feel to it.

5) Panoramic roof- Holy crap...this was NICE! So expansive, and let in great amount of light. For sure a must have purchase.

6) Gas gauge observation- The gauge was reading about 90% full, and the "miles to empty"/ "range" amount said 503mi. The sales guy said we was pretty sure that the test vehicle DID NOT have the extended range fuel tank. The truck was doing a lot of just idling and sitting there, with hours of just driving around in small circles at 5mph. Not sure if there are any guys out there with calculators, that might want to take a rough stab at MPGs.

7) Rear seats- I didn't sit in them, but from looking at them from the front seat, they looked like they sat pretty low to the floor. I think your knees would be sitting up higher than usual. Nothing crazy, but I remember doing a mental "double take" of it.

8) Center console/ arm rest- This was my only complaint... Which kinda sucks because I really think a good armrest is important. Widthwise, it was fine. Lots of storage, ports, and trays. Seemed very similar to the 2014 Raptor I sat in. But, it sat way higher. I would say it was maybe 4-5" HIGHER than the Raptor's console. I wasn't a fan. I guess, I will just have to see about raising the seat up higher?

Anyways....about the few pics. Took one to show the panoramic roof, the headlights didn't really turn out, and the overall look behind the baseball field. Hope this helped? Let me know if you have any questions....

Thanks for the feedback. You only had a chance to drive just the one truck, not like the press corp events where you would compare an EB to the 5.0?

Did you hear anything else from the other test drivers?

What did you think of the quality of the leather in the Lariat.

Did you notice what brand of tires were on it?

Are the seats height adjustable?

How sturdy are the interior grab handles, if you happened to grab it?

It looks like the Lariat was ingot silver, how would you rate the paint quality?

I really hope the event I attend has more than 1 truck!! Looking forward to this Sunday.

They had a few other Ford vehicles there, but most everyone was there to test drive the only truck they had. People took a Escape or whatever around the track as they wanted their turn in the truck. As for your questions....
1) Nope, didn't talk to anyone else. The crowd seemed a bit odd. Either like high school kids, or old folks, or maybe people just walking buy and saw the sign and wanted free food? Most didn't seem like true "buyers" or "shoppers". 2) The quality of the leather seemed fine. Not too soft where it looked like it might wear in a few years, but not overly hard like vinyl. I don't know how to compare it thought because this will be my first Ford (been a Chevy guy). 3) For sure the front seats were adjustable. Not sure about the rear (as in height)...it didn't look so. 4) No idea about the tires. It was a "pre-production" model, so I wouldn't put much faith in what the final tires were. It had normal license plate, and I'm sure it was 99.9% the final version, but just not sure about the tires. 5) I saw the grab handles on the A pillar. I remembered that being a good reboot from years past when they removed them. But, I didn't grab it. But its placement was in a good spot to use to get in the cab, yet not visually in the way. 6) The paint quality looked spot on. Gorgeous color in the sun light. I'm gonna go with the Magnetic with Sport package, so it wouldn't have been my choice, but for those that like silver they will be happy with it. And like I said, touching the paint/ aluminum, it has a slightly odd feel to it. Can't really describe it more than I did above. Let me know what you think when you drive on Sunday....

I stopped by the customer drive event in Eden Prairie, Minnesota today. I didn't really need to drive one, because I have one on order. I was really interested in looking them over for quality. Talked to the guy who has been driving a SC 4x4 with the 2.7 EB for a couple of weeks, he said on the freeway at 65 he's been getting 29mpg and when he's over 70 and pushing, he's down around 25mpg.

I have a mid Lariat SC, 4X4, 6.5, 5.0 in Bronze Fire on order. Going to see if I can add the moonroof option at this time.

THE NEW F-150'S ARE AWESOME!! T.P.

Event here will be in a BJ's parking lot
I've been there, so unless they are letting people take them out on the street I can't say its going to be much of a drive

I just returned from a drive in Batavia, NY.I drove both the 2.7 and the 3.5.
The 2.7 was an xlt with decent equipment. It threw me off when the engine shut off when we stopped for 30 seconds. As soon as I took my food off the brake, it fired back up again. Never got into it much, we only had a small stretch in the 45mph zone. Seemed very peppy and quiet. The guy that has been driving it said he was getting 24/25mpg from place to place(truck had 3700miles on it).
The 3.5eco was a red lariat that was loaded(roof, navigation, led's, etc..), it was strong, very little(if any) turbo lag. Got into it for a second and was instantly at 40mph. The guy said it had the 3.73's in it, and got about 22/23 mpg. Smooth drive, really quiet ride. I noticed the seat was set up a lot higher than the other one was. The roof is awesome and huge, the tailgate is extremely light, and the 360 camera is cool in tight spaces.
I didn't get any pictures or notice the tires, as it was getting pretty dark. The trucks were awesome, some nice new stuff, but I still really enjoy my 2012 lariat. Someday, I will probably have one.
