this sounds entirely not worth it whatsoever. I've just turned a 1 step process into 2...

I'm obviously dumb, or just dumbfounded. Why would anybody bother with doing this? I don't get it.

We already have pushbutton start... it's just done with a key instead of an actual 'button'. What's the difference?

Some people think the "key" is supposed to stay in their pocket or console for some reason.

I've seen this mod, you can do it with an ink pen when you trade up to a lariat.

Just kidding, but seriously do push button to start vehicles really add that much convenience? Cool but still trying to understand PTS.

Good topic tho. Seriously, my 15 xlt works pretty close to the same as push button. I get in, stick the key in, tap the key and it starts by itself. Not like the old days where you had to hold the key in the start position until the engine fully started.

So if you ask me the tech is already wired into them. Changing the computer is probably just telling it to look for a different source for the start command. But as mentioned if the sensors have to be added it probably isn't cost effective.

Me thinks you are confusing two different systems. Push to start should only be replace the key with a button. The other sensors and computer modules are for allowing you to walk up and unlock the door with out a key.

So the question is valid what do you need to make it a push to start. Then what would you need to have the proximity sensors to unlock the doors etc?

If I am not mistaken these should be two different systems. If I remember correctly on the 2009 to 2014 you could just replace the key with a button there was at least one aftermarket system like this.

If I am mistaken it is the first time this century(-;

My last vehicle and my wife's last 2 vehicles have had push-button and it's amazing... I never took my key out of my pocket until taking my keys out at night to go to bed. Touch the door/push button on door handle to unlock/lock, push button to start, the key never needs to be out. For women, they can leave the key in their purse all the time, never take it out. It's a superior system. I would expect it to be standard on all U.S. market cars within 5 year models. Right now they're just using it as a selling point to get you to move up in option level.

Kind of a stale thread but I absolutely HATE the switchblade key and PKE (passive keyless entry) with push button start would be glorious.
I found this product and they seem to be making some pretty "fantastical" claims about features and even attempt to copy the keyfob design.

I know its probably Chinese junk, but i wanted to hear anyone's take on things that are part of current gen ignition that would likely prevent this from working.
Please be gentle with your criticism... I'm new to Ford f-150 world of electronic this and that. I've restored older trucks but I'm still getting my feet wet in the newer ForScan driven world.
