Had mine off four times for do-it-myself oil changes. Not so much of a hassle that I would consider leaving it off. I'll take the extra protection, as little as it may offer. I 'am' considering a cordless ratchet to make it even easier, maybe. I'll be leaving mine on.

I use an impact driver (1/4 hex device not impact wrench) to take mine off with - take seconds.

apparently it is only on the ecoboost engines - I thought it was on all of them.

Hmmm... I thought they all had it as well. I've got the 2.7 eco, and I took the diaper off 1,000 miles after I got the truck when I did the first oil change. (cue oil change timeline debate) I now have just shy of 50,000 miles and the LOM says average fuel economy is 22.6 mpg. Most of my driving is at 50+ mph. Yep, I've got a little oil spot, but that spot is much smaller than the one my '70 C10 made.
