Default Please help me with a hitch question

I have a 2018 F-150 Lariat with the Class IV Trailer Hitch, but I don't have this part with the ball. I have seen different ball sizes. I want to rent a trailer from U-Haul for a day. What should I buy for towing a trailer?

Thank you for the link, but it is pricy. Isn't there a standard ball size?

The Goog says 2" standard. Your local Harbor Freight should have them in stock.

Uhaul trailers use a 2" ball, just make sure the one you buy is rated for enough capacity for whatever you're towing, especially if it's a car trailer. I've had a couple Uhaul's check the tow ball I was using while most don't care.

Ask them what size Ball the trailer you select, needs.
How big is the trailer?
Does it need Electric Brake Power?
4 Pin or 7 pin Power cables.
Does your truck have 4 and or 7 pin outlet?
Gotta know all this.
Good luck.

Don't forget to have them measure for the right drop and get the corresponding mount.

Since most uhaul places sell and install hitches, just get the parts there with the correct drop or raise that you’d need.

2” is likely what they use, unless it’s a tiny trailer.

You likely will want a 2” ball with 5” drop. That’s what I use with U-Haul trailers. They will have what you need.
