The only spot carpet is dampish is right at door sill. Will spread baking soda in that area. Awaiting overnight Amazon delivery of Humidifier. Appreciate the comments from all . 👍

Man that sucks, i would probably run the heater with the windows down so the moisture can escape. I was in Orlando and it was almost like clock work for the afternoon storms, one minute the skies are clear and the next its almost movie style down pour.

I am from a dryer climate
  • How about putting a 1500 watt small electric portable heater possibly set on max in the vehicle safely/securely and far enough away direct pointed toward the damp areas. Leave a window open for a supply path and escape path for the now warm moist air.
  • If you have a dehumidifier I think they like like warm air too for more efficiency, I am sure a continuous supply of air across the area would be good hot or not.
  • How about a long trip, heater on high, maybe not so good of an I idea.
  • Some of the F150 incorporate a humidify sensor in the temperature sensing system, it may already be working on the problem.
  • I would be careful about spraying bleach across anything but some may know better than I
  • Don't panic just help it dry out, I am sure your not the first person to have this happen

Is the leather seat cover on the driver's seat removable? If so, perhaps removing it so the foam seat cushions can dry would help?

I JUST did the same thing last week. I ended up leaving the truck doors wide open in the sun with a floor fan running after I soaked up all the standing water. I also removed some of the trim pieces so the carpet and padding could dry a little better. I was lucky and had some warm days. I also ran a household dehumidifier at night (along with the floor fan). I ended up having no issues. Water took about 2 full days to completely dry in the sun with the doors open and dehumidifier at night.

Good luck!

Use vinegar instead of bleach. As effective as bleach on molds without discoloration concerns or lingering chemical smell.

I’m in Florida which has its afternoon showers. It’s 85 degrees but it’s humid without the sun so I don’t want to leave it open. Presently have a bounce house blower working and just got a neighbors humidifier in the mix about an hour ago. Used a hair dryer for spot drying and actually melted a slit of carpeting 😩, but luckily it will be covered up by the floor liner. Also have damp rid items inside and used some baking soda along door sill where it was damping yesterday.
Had the max heater on for about an hour focused on the floor. Then I took about a 90 minute round trip on interstate with Max air on.
I guess I just need to be patient and let the humidifier do it’s job now.
I was immediately concerned the first few minutes when I found it. The auto lights would not go out. I had to move to manual off to get the lights off.
The auto lights now work fine. Also at first a window popped up on the Nav screen stating massaging seats were off.( they were not on). So a little concerned about that, but I am choosing to wait several days before I try that.
Also bought some CRC from Autozone and sprayed on light and window switches ( alcohol based product supposed to dry out wires around dampness.) ( Hey, I was desperate at first.)
Main concern now is drying out the driver’s seat so it will not turn into a problem later.

Finally, I guess I’m always going to wonder if my stupidity was the reason any glitch now happens in the future.
But again, thanks for the advice gentlemen!
👍

So today after getting blower and dehumidifier set up in the truck, when I walked away the alarm sounded. I thought it might be my remote in my pocket setting it off. Clicked the remote to turn off the alarm. Walked away— seconds later it went off again.
First thought was what’s wrong now? If you read my post above, you know my mindset.
Checked things out— felt the dehumidifier and there was some slight vibration.
Switched security to perimeter only and that was it—no problem. ( I should have realized because I had no issue while doors were unlocked— only when I locked it did that come into play.)

Final question( maybe LOL)
So I have some damprid containers in the truck with the blower and dehumidifier. Would they be counterproductive with the dehumidifier?
thanks again.

You cou try an air compressor with a blow gun attachment an slowly working back an forth from the dry side an try to help air it out before the naturally drying technigue might induce mold or decomposition to materials which would cause them to become deteriorated ahead of time.....blow for a while and vaccuum for a while repeat for desired results....also remove the bottom plastic on the door jam to allow the air travelling through flow out as opposed to a venturi affect with no place to spit out water....spend time
