Default Please help. 2016 clunk when getting back on throttle.

I have a 2016 super crew fx4 with 12000 miles. 3.5 eco. Just about every time I even lightly get back on the throttle after coasting at highway speeds I hear a clunk coming from the driveshaft or transmission. It has done it since new. I have had it to the dealership twice and they act like they don't hear anything out of the ordinary. It is enough that even my wife and kid asked me what that weird noise is. This was my first new truck and first f150. The noise and response from ford has ensured it will be my last. If anyone has any info on what could be going on I would really appreciate it. Hearing that sound and thinking about how much I paid for this truck makes me sick to even drive it. Thanks for any help or info you might have.

Mine is doing the same thing. From a slow roll or a dead stop I an getting a thunk sound, almost like a U-Joint noise. Mine only has 600 miles on it. I figured it was the norm but if it gets worse I will take it in.

Mine does this too. My 2010 also did it. These trucks are "clunky" and it seems to be normal. Never had any issues develop because of it.

My 16 does it too. I've thought about greasing the slip yoke for the driveshaft but haven't had the time to worry with it right now.

It is the torque converter clutch. Perfectly normal.

Basically what you are experiencing is the "float" of the clutch mechanism between states of engagement and disengagement when coasting and letting off the gas and then when accelerating, the clutch snaps back in.

Not to be confused with drive-line lash clunk from a low speed stop/drive.

My 2016 has also done this since new (3500 miles on it now). I also have a clunk after stopping that feels a lot like a dry slip yoke, but I lubed it last weekend and it didn't go away. Still trying to figure that out.

Mine does it too. Feels like excessive lash.

I have a 2016 which does it too, I don't recall that it did it during the first few weeks of ownership, however I aware that it does it now....

Doesn't happen all the time though.
