Default Plastic or no plastic?

Hey y'all. I ran into a guy here in my town who has removed the air dam from the front of his 2015 F150. He advised me to do the same, although the only reason he could reference to do so was some vague YouTube claim that it boosts mpg. It sounds dubious at best, to me.

Can you guys shed some light on this for me?
(My truck is a 2015 XL Super cab 2.7 EB if that helps.)

Much appreciated!

It'll actually hurt your MPG s tiny bit. That's the only reason it exists. I trimmed mine down. I like the look better and it'll be less likely to get ripped off in the snow.

the only reason to remove it is to get a better approach angle or if you dont like the look of it. removing it isnt going to help fuel economy, it will hurt it.

I appreciate allof your responses. The only approach angle I'm concerned with is how I approach the street from my driveway, and the reverse of that. Lolz.

I like my fuel economy as it is, and this will be my last winter in Virginia (it doesn't really snow here), so that's a non-issue for me too.

I knew that dudes claim had to be horse *****. It stays as is!

I took mine off so I wouldn't rip it off on snow drifts......liked looking at it better off so never put it back on in spring. Still off.

I took mine off on a Wrangler and it hurt the MPG and also allowed more dirt and road debris to get o the engine.

I'm leaving mine in place.

I like the way it looks, the way it is. I have seen how people trimmed or took it off. IMO I like it original.
