Default Piped in noise

My 08 Eco blew up a few weeks ago and I got a 20 with a 5.0. Do they pipe in fake engine sounds through the sound system like the Ecoboost, and other car makers do?

Only 'fake engine noise" on Lariat and above with the Sony system (maybe also B&O).

No need for fake noise when the 5.0 makes the real noise that people are after.

Can it be turned off? I don't need or want fake noises through the sound system.

I thought it was a joke. They actually pipe in the sound of the engine through the speakers?

The 5.0 is a real engine, that makes real noise. They only piped in noise for the EcoBoosts, because they sound so bad.

You can turn it off via Forscan. The first year for the Eco in an F150 was in 2011.

Manufacturers have been doing that on all kinds of cars for decades. BMW was the first one I read about, years ago

I mean, they insulate the top of the engine/intake so people don't hear injectors and lifters and whatever else as much, which is literally spending money for 100% negative functional result...the fake engine noise should not be surprising lol

Ford engineered some strategic locations to mount a 'microphone, if you will, that is wired into the stereo system so the subwoofer reproduces the 'microphones' note into a low toned exhaust note.

In my opinion, it was pretty well done. Unless you know better, the users first though isn't "who stupidly made your stereo TRY sounding like a muffler." It is fairly mellow and the tone changes based on RPM and harmonics.

I have disabled mine, It wasn't bad in town but it did make just enough drone at speed that I disabled it with FORScan.
