Maybe some lubrication on the seal will prevent the stress on the brackets that actually move and slide the glass around?
I still have zero (knocking on wood) problems with my sunroof but this thread definitely gives me the *****'s.
I'm going to pop mine open today and wipe down the seals with some interior detailing spray.
Yes this is what caused mine to break. I pushed the button to open the sunroof and it wasn't opening as fast as it normally would so I looked up at it and I could see the roof flexing as the sunroof was trying to open. As it started to move I heard the glass break loose from the roof panel as always, but this time I heard some plastic breaking as well. After it's fixed I will keep it lubricated this time.

Mine is at ford for rough idle broken sunroof guides and rear window issue grabbed something out of my truck today with the door code and rear door is still off figured they would have got some of these parts having the truck a whole week guess not. I think i wont be using my sunroof unless really needed.

Question roof problem like yours

2015 Lariet - just off warranty. Big pop when I hit the open button. Stuck unsealed. They identified the 2,100 repair. Coincidentally there was another truck owner with who recently experienced the same problem with the broken track assembly. Is this something Ford either has a recall or should make. recall. I agree, bad design. Best wishes on getting through the other collateral troubles.

I figured someone can easily answer this one instead of me chasing down multiple threads.

Was this a big issue for 2016 also?

I have a 2016 with the pano...mine stuck about 2 months ago and I “assisted” it to pop up and open. A small plastic piece broke off when I went to close it. I took it to dealership to check for leaks etc. It has worked fine since. The dealership gave me option of them replacing it but I’m not keen on them taking everything apart as long as it’s operational. I’m also only 14,000 miles into the 36k warranty so I have plenty of time if it does decide to break completely.

Same issue, brought it to the dealer to have them fix a sticking issue. Tech adjusted it and said it is good to go. I tested it before i drove off and it still was messed up. After taking it back 3 more times, i told them do not call me unless it is FIXED!. They ended up replacing the whole frame assembly and now works like a champ.

Unfortunately they will all break 15 and up F150 and 17 and up Superduty. We have a glass trim and water leak guy. He does them steadily. About 3-4 a week.

Damn, it's disheartening to hear so many issues after so many years to get it right. Does anybody know if my new (June 2018 build date) Platinum still has the potential issue??? I honestly don't plan to ever open the damn thing if that's the case. That way, I should be good, right? I might just open the sunshield, but no issues there, correct? I figure without opening it, or very rarely, shouldn't have any problems, I hope. I didn't want a freaking moonroof, but had to choice since all Platinums come with it, even when it's listed as a separate option. Thanks.

My dad's 2016 panoroof leaked and couldn't figure it out until the tech noticed that the tracks were not aligned and not allowing it to close properly. They install a whole new one that was a new design that fixes these issues. So far he has had no issues. I opted to not get it on my truck.

I have a '15 F150 and the driver side (rear)corner of front pano glass is now sitting proud of the roofline. Here's what occurred; I never use the pano roof as I know of the vast issues with most all pano roof designs (from F150 to VW Jetta Sportwagen to Porsche Cayenne) and didn't want anything to fail on me. A friend borrowed my truck and in trying to cool the cabin on a hot day, went to tilt the pano roof and "POP", uh oh.....try to close or tilt the front glass panel now and the glass goes up/down/up/down--will not close all the way. What I bet happened is since I never use my, the seals have gotten a bit hard, created a point of friction on the passenger rear corner, then when he tried to tilt, that corner stuck, the driver side opened, broke something plastic in the system. Dealer says ~$3000-3500 to fix.

I didn't see this link in this thread, but has anyone else found/used this repair kit?
http://sunroofdoctor.3dcartstores.co...-Set_p_99.html

I just spoke to Rick at Sunroof Doctor(SUPER friendly and helpful!) upon ordering mine and he says the components can be installed without dropping the headliner. Has fixed every F150 they've sold to (save for 1, which he thinks was a greedy dealership trying to upsell a full pano roof job).

Will advise further!
