Default Pallet o'Pellets

Howdy. Anyone haul a pallet of pellets in their '15 XLT 6.5'? I'm hemming and hawing over it due to how close it comes to the payload threshold. Have heard some horror stories....

Done it in my 2011 5.0 and done it in my 2015 3.5EB. I alway have them slide it as far forward as possible. Had no problems. I always worried more about my tires than my truck. The pellets were hauled about 15miles.

I haven't hauled a pallet of anything in my 2015 6.5ft box lariat but I have hauled 2400lbs of gravel in the box. Was definitely sagging in rear but not on bump stops or anything. It was my first time getting gravel and I told the loader to put in around 1000-1200 lbs. when I got to the scale it was actually 2400lbs!

No issues but I wouldn't do that again as my P rated tires were like marshmallows and steering was affected due to less weight over front wheels (and I still have damn rocks rattling around in my tailgate).
if you stick close to payload capacity i think you would be fine though. What's the payload on your truck? Weight of pallet?

So a pallet of pellets weighs about 2000lbs. What does it say on your yellow payload capacity sticker in the door?

How far do you need to go? How fast will you have to drive?

If it were me and I were only going a few miles or so I would go for it. Air up all the tires to Max PSI on sidewall. Drive slow and leave a lot of room to stop. Probably wont be a problem.

Thanks, all, for the responses. Ended up just taking a half load because I had to take it 50+ miles home.

I have hauled a pallet of Pellets in mine. Scab 4x4 6.5 bed, payload 1991. So yea it is a bit over with the pellets passengers etc. Honestly the weight really didn't bother me, it was that dang high center of gravity. The pallet of Pellets are so high. I strapped them down good, but if I had to to an emergency stop I knew that they would be hitting my cab. So I did it, no problems, 4 times to get 4 tons. It handled it absolutely fine weight wise. I had no issue doing it, just the center of gravity really did bother me.

I ended up selling a big utility trailer I had and bought a 5x10 PJ utility trailer. I plan on using that to haul them from now on. I would rather the weight in the bed than pushing me, but I really do not see it being an issue. I feel that I will be better off with them strapped in a lower utility trailer than in the bed of my truck. Just my opinion though.

Hey are you the same person getting the Harman Accentra 53i over in the pellet forum? Good luck with the Stove, just put in a Harman P68 this year. Works great.
