Default Paint Defects

Was looking to see how anyone has made out with getting paint defects corrected after purchasing. I bought a 2015 Platinum a month ago with around 200 miles on it and just recently noticed two paint blemishes on the driver side rear door just below the window, looks like debris in the paint and is affecting the clear coat as well. The debris is hard to see, but the clear coat is noticeable. The best way I can describe it is that it looks like the grease from someones skin as if they were leaning on the truck, but it does not come off. The blemish is only visible if the sun is hitting the door at the right angle.

Through further inspection it looks like the top door bolt has been touched up and the door does not always close all the way, and the interior panel has "stress" marks where it looks like the clips pop into the door itself. Which makes me think something happened to the door prior to me buying the truck, and I'm sure the dealer will never admit to that.

I wouldn't hesitate bringing it back to the dealer, however I bought the truck almost 200mi from home (long story).

Would I have success at a local dealer or should I just suck it up and contact the dealer I bought it from.

Call your sales person and ask them about the defect(s). If it's under a certain dollar amount, they don't need to disclose that info prior to sell, amount depending on the state I believe. Take pics and offer to email them, and that you want to use your local dealership to handle the warranty work. I would not wait, start the process ASAP.

Unless the defect is really noticeable and you cannot live with it I would leave it alone. The factory paint is likely better than the repair would be .Good chance they will mess something else up and you will regret having it done. Just my opinion from past experience. Good luck w/whatever you decide.

I'm dealing with almost the exact same situation. My defects are a little larger, but I noticed them later. I night mine last July. Another long story why it has been so long. My local dealer wouldn't touch it. Said it didn't happen at the factory and it had some body work previously performed. My purchasing dealer said it wasn't performed there and that they took it in as a dealer trade. Fist they said on the phone they would fox it no problems. Drove it up to them (3 hours away) so they could take pictures. A week later i called back and they said they wouldn't fix it. So I cashed the general manager. He said they works attempt to "make the repairs better" but he hasn't seen it in person. I'm supposed to drop it off on the 19th. I think it needs a new door panel, but we'll see. I'll let you know how it goes. Definitely a reason to buy locally. But it was the exact truck I wanted and one of the local dealers basically ignored me. I should have went to my other local place and dealt with them to get it, but it could have taken too long and i missed the truck.
