Default P2450 Code

2015 F150 2.7 ecoboost. Have a P2450 code. Started as a check engine light, after a while service wrench light came on. Code is for Evap Blocking valve. I have changed the Evap Blocking Valve, purge valve, cleaned and put some oil on the fuel filler flap seal. Check engine light cleared, wrench light persists and code p2450 is still producing. After clearing code, code reproduces immediately. Had a weak battery, so just replaced the battery as well thinking possible low voltage issue. Reset oil life and code and wrench light persist. Help please!!

If you have the ability, monitor PCM PID FTP and FTP_F. This is the fuel tank pressure sensor. If it is not working properly and reporting erroneous pressures it can be interpreted as a vacuum leak and initiate P2450. The FTP monitors the tank pressure whether the ignition is on or off. After the truck has sat for awhile the FTP should be close to zero (ambient pressure) and this can be checked wihout starting engine. If it is not, opening the tank to atmosphere using the white auxillary fuel filler funnel should bring that pressure back to zero. If it still doesn't, that could indicate a bad FTP sensor. The FTP sensor will throw a DTC only if the sensor returns a reading that is out of range. If the reading is incorrect but still in range there will be no DTC.

I have experienced this with a 2015 2.7L and it took a long time after the inital P2450 occurred before a P0453 occurred. In this case, it ended up being an issue with the electrial connector for the FTP sensor rather than being the sensor itself. Took a long time to diagnose this and get it fixed. I too changed the pressure blocking valve which made no difference. The old valve bench tested OK. The FTP sensor is almost as expensive as the blocking valve so you want to be sure that is the culpret before buying a new one.
