P0096

13,000 Miles
K&N Air Filter
Stock Otherwise
Threw an engine light headed to Florida from South Carolina. Vehicle ran fine. Just got the code read and it seems to be dealing with the two AIT sensors. Curious if anyone dealt with this and what you did did to correct it. It is under warranty and I have an appointment with Ford but if it’s simple and cheap I’d rather handle it then deal with them. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Sorry-I misread CAI on the list of options. So just a K&N filter? If it was me, I think I’d still throw a Motorcraft air filter in there before I dropped it off, to give them as little excuse as possible to deny warranty
From PCED ManualP0096 - Intake Air Temperature Sensor-2 Circuit Range/Performance Bank-1
This DTC sets when the IAT2 sensor PID does not correlate with the CACT sensor or the IAT sensor PIDs at ignition ON. It also sets if the IAT2 sensor PID exceeds the maximum calibrated temperature threshold while driving.
This DTC may be accompanied by other DTCs. Check for other DTCs and diagnose those first.

I had mine fail within 1000 miles. Took it to the dealer and they replaced. Came back on again within miles from dealership. Took it back and they replaced again and haven’t had any engine codes since. They kept my truck over night the second time.
I would just take it to the dealer if I were you.

We’ll just an update. Dealer looked at it for two hours and couldn’t figure it out, lol. Wanted me to leave it for two days. Not gonna happen as I am on vacation. I’ll drop it off at my dealership for this and the recalls once bs k in Charleston.

Thank you very much! I have not gotten a change to mess with it and just the other day it went away and has not come back. I thought for sure it had something to do with the auto start/stop and how I disabled it with the GENIE. The auto start/stop has been acting up a bit after 2 years of having the Genie installed. I plan to put it back to stock and use a different newer method that does not mess with the tune but the switch itself.
