Default Overheating

I finally got the Cam Phasers replaced on my 2017 F150 3.5 Ecoboost Platinum. I had enabled the coolant temp readout above the coolant gauge with ForScan. I believe that before the cam phasers were replaced i was reading around 212°F. After the Cam Phaser replacement at the dealership my temperature will climb to 232°F when going up a hill 45-65MPH and the Turbos have to run. That happened the other day and I pulled over and opened the hood and it only cooled down to 223°F. It was 80°F outside. I've taken it back to the dealership and they say that this is normal behavior. I'm not towing anything. I'm actually afraid to the way this is behaving. And The truck is running on Cruise Control.

Any suggestions?

I have read that it's a thermostat issue. I doubt ford will do anything though so you might have to replace it your self. Here is a video from a ford tech.

My suggestion is to disable the temp readout. There is a reason this is not enabled by Ford.

Did you replace it with a Motorcraft though? If not then that is likely your issue. These trucks don't play well with non-OEM thermostats.

Replace with a new OEM thermostat. Note: You don't need to adjust the temp target with an aftermarket thermostat.

I had the exact issue after phasor replacement on my 18 3.5. As others stated, get the OEM updated thermostat and get rid of the orange coolant. Unless you have a tech that pulls some weight like Bossme, Ford won't do squat.

check the lower and upper louvers. I had my lower ones fail and it was doing something along the same lines
