Default Ordering/buying advice

I haven't posted since I ordered and received my 2011 XLT Super Cab. I've lurked on the site numerous times. Anyhow, I was originally thinking about buying a leftover 2016 due to the rebates and living with what I could find that was still available. My truck currently has 21K on it and is in excellent condition. I've talked to two dealers and I feel they're offering me a fair dollar for it. I'm now considering ordering a 2017 exactly as I want it as more than likely it will be what I own going into retirement and it also could very well be the last new one I ever buy. My question is whether to wait until late summer and order at the end of the 17 run so more rebates will be available on them, like I did for my 11, or do it now. I'm wondering about the continued depreciation vs. rebate. I'm not pressured into doing anything, I do however have a convertible in winter storage I'm hoping to sell so that I can use that money along with my trade to go towards the new one. I appreciate any help and suggestions anyone has. FYI, I'm thinking about a Super Crew XLT, 302A, 5.0, FX4, Sport Pkg., 3.55 locker, 20" 6 spokes, 36 gallon tank, navigation, trailer tow pkg., color...I'm having a rough time with.

I'd wait until fall if you are in no hurry. Will also give you a chance to sell your car in nicer weather.

If it is your last truck, I would wait and order an 18 and get it exactly as you want it, price be darned.

Depreciation is basically irrelevant if you don't sell the truck until it's very old. So wait for the max rebates.

The only thing I can think of about waiting too long to buy a left over model is, the longer you wait the more difficult it will be to find a truck that's set up the way you want it. If you're willing to make that compromise then I would say go for it.

This is very good advice, get an '18 (but wait until this time next year so you can find a better deal on something in stock). If you plan to keep the new one long term, then DEFINITELY get the longest Ford Factory warranty you can get. With the electronics, turbos, and new transmission for the EPA / CAFE standards it'll cost a lot over 20years.

OP said he wants to order his, so there is no downside as long as he orders before they close the ordering window.

Living in Pa I'd suggest waiting till winter is over to get/order a new truck. I got my 15 in Jan. (Previous truck totaled so no choice)and 3 days later-22" of snow. Not exactly the ideal way to get used to a new vehicle!

I appreciate the replies and coaching. I'm leaning towards waiting to see what the 2018 update has to offer. Although I'm tempted by the rebates to buy a leftover, I'm going to have to live with this truck a very long time, it could very well be my last. I'm thankful that you guys filled me in on the 18 information.
Thanks again for taking the time to help me out, it was well taken and is honestly exactly what I needed.
