Default Order changes

I know this has been brought up but I couldn't find the thread that talked about it. I'm thinking of changing the color of my truck on order (to tuxedo black) so I sent a text to my salesman and he said he didn't think he could make any changes at this point. I just recieved my VIN yesterday along with a lot of other people but the order still shows "order processing" in COTUS.

Has anyone made changes to their order after they received a VIN? Is the dealer just trying to avoid the five minutes it takes to make the change or is he correct?

I was able to change the color a month after I got my VIN. It changed on COTUS an hour after the change.

Thanks for the info. I figured as much but didn't want to start hounding him until I knew for sure others had done it.

I was able to add the trailer tow package to my truck a month after getting my VIN. My sales guy fed me the same line. I spoke with the sales manager and the trailer tow was magically added to my truck.

Sales people discourage this since it means more work on their end. Talk to their boss...he/she will make it happen.

Ordered Lariat on 6 Dec, added technology package, active park and adaptive cruise on 22 January no worries. Truck is actually scheduled to be built today

I also want to change my order. Want to change gear ratios. Got my vin one week ago. Talked to the dealer today and it didn't sound very promising. So..... If he says no, is there any other way to go about it?

You can make changes to an existing order right up to just before they pull it for production, then no more changes. You can add or subtract anything within that model. If you want to change model or go from 2wd to 4wd then you have to cancel and re-order.

I've made 3 changes to mine over a 4 week period and the changes always should up on COTUS within hours of the dealer making the changes.

Like mentioned already, if they give you lip ask for the sales manager or the GM. You money, your truck, have it your way!
