Default Old cabin

So after owning truck for month I notice the cabin is filed with wind and road noise. I brought it dealer and they gave me the bs corporate answer. Everything looks good and it’s performing normally. So I am about to go down the dynamat path cause I got a whole box n my basement. The seals on my rear door seam to be leaking the noise. Also the side mirrors are there any things I could don’t helpmoutnthrneind noise from those. I was even thinking of designing a turbukatjr system that you stick on cars for loud side mirrors and if it worked sell it to shark tank. 50k truck and it’s louder than my 4 cyl POS Venza that I from

Sorry to hear your truck is too loud. I can say out of all the 2013 plus vehicles I’ve driven since owning my 2016, my xlt is one of the quietest vehicles I’ve been in. Little to no engine noise, wind noise is a minimal. I have stock tires and some aerodynamic deletes and it’s still very quiet. I show about 65 db(a) at around 70 mph.

I also believe my 2017 XLT with the 3.5TT is very quiet inside. I put Raptor take offs with the BFG's on it and it increased the tire a noise a bit over stock, but still quieter inside than my wife's 2017 Explorer. The inside of my truck reminds me of my parent's Cadillacs back in the 80's, very isolated from the outside world.

The wind noise sucks and is a well-known problem with a lot of F-150s. Mine has wind noise from the rears as well along with the knocking sunroof. Both come and go and when they do, it's quiet as can be cruising. My engine has gotten quite loud however (which I believe is due to major internal issues)...but before it was silent and idle and only was moderately loud at WOT. There was a Youtube video awhile back where a guy was able to trace the wind noise to particular areas of the door (and I think had a lot to do with door alignment more than the weatherstripping). I'll see if I can find it, but he had a few suggestions that made a big difference in his.

Edit:

I was ready to roll my truck off a cliff due to wind noise. I did all known fixes to man kind. Surgical tubing, door alignments, additional seals, taped off all mirror connectors, dynamat the crap out of all doors and although it was significantly quieter inside, I could hear wind noise coming in better than ever. I finally figured out my wind noise was coming in through the door handle or lack of seals around the door handle. Not sure what happened to them but I think going through car washes, the drying blowers might have blown them out. I siliconed all gaps where door handles meets the door body and it very quiet, quieter than my E class.

If you're going to do noise deadening, you need to do some research. Just using Dynamat isn't enough. You need to decouple the noise with closed-cell foam and mass-loaded vinyl as well as damping the vibration with the Dynamat.
http://www.sounddeadenershowdown.com is a good place to start.

My 2016 is very quiet, but will soon be replaced for other reasons. This time, I'm going to do a full noise deadening treatment, which will help with noise and with heat.

the engjne noise is not q problem. Actually like it. It’s just the road and wind noise. Maybe I just got shafted with a bad tuck. Can’t fall under lemon law because it’s all perception.
