Default Oil Filter Question- Wrong One?

Hello, I recently purchased the oil filter attached here (see pics). I found it on a few websites as being the most recommended filter. I haven't even looked at my truck yet, but just upon inspecting it out of the box, it seems really thin! Did I purchase the wrong thing??
Appreciate any help, this is my first truck. Per my sig, this is a 2018 EcoBoost 2.7L STX

Agreed, get OEM or another high quality filter. Will never buy fram again after I saw first hand why they called it the Orange can of death. Yours may be fine but can't bring myself to use Fram oil filters ever again.

Oil filter is on the top on some models (cartridge style).

Fram deserves a bad reputation but in my opinion not for the Internet lore reason. I say due to continued production of timed release Teflon/PTFE oil filters.

I have no problems with “cardboard” in oil filters, after all the element is paper. The good thing about cartridge oil filters is the end of foolish arguments about bypass valves and anti-drainback flaps. Furthermore if the element collapses or tears it will be obvious without having to make the effort to cut a can open, which hardly no one ever does.

MOTORCRAFT ONLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That fram will destroy your engine and good luck getting warranty coverage then

as far as the size, it is correct. these 2.7s use a top mounted filter and yes they are on the smaller side

http://ricksfreeautorepairadvice.com...-filter-brand/

did a little research and most of what I found stated that people just rage against FRAM without much science behind it. I'm going to try it out, and let you guys know how it goes! Thanks for the advice!
