Official 2018 Grille Replacement Thread
#831
Swapped mine out this week... so much better looking than the XLT grill. I also installed the four-light bar from Custom Auto Works. In the pics, the amber lights look like a different color than the running lights, but they're actually the same color. It's all a really straight-forward swap, and start to finish, only took about an hour, without rushing. Once you do it one time, the next time would only take probably forty minutes or so, and that includes swapping the shutters, and fishing the wire harness through the grill and core support.
I have the same color and looking to do the same swap. Do you still have the part numbers for the parts you ordered?

Hope this helps!

[QUOTE=Wanna Ride;6175989]If yours is the Magnetic color, I sure do... (you'll need three of the emblem nuts). The four-light bar from Custom Auto works is $89 and the part number is 2018-STX/SEPP (if your truck has halogen headlights). Here's their link: https://customautoworksstore.com/for...or-light-kits/
Hope this helps!

Lariat Sport grille is my favorite, but PPF is a must, the broad flat bars really catch the bugs. However, bugs and dirt wipe right off the PPF without touching the paint.

So, my grill came in late week (in the pic, letters FORD are not shown) and I'm trying to figure out how do I want it painted. I already know that I don't want to install it unpainted - looks unfinished IMHO on trucks that are not black. So here are the options:
1.Paint frame and letters, leave mesh black and clear coat everything. One body shop said masking off mesh is not good because there will be tape line where paint will eventually crack and peel.
2. Paint entire grill but leave letters black, clear coat everything. Same body shop said it's impossible to get even coat on the mesh. My buddy, who will actually do, it said he has done multiple time and it's easier than masking it off.
3. Paint and clear coat everything.
I am torn between these options and I'd like someone to chime in with an opinion. Truck is Magnetic Gray.
Thanks all in advance.
