That being said. Take it apart yourself. Maybe even prep it. That will save you a ton of money, if the shop only has to spray it. Might get away with it for low money

Agreed. I called a few local shops and they want to see it before giving any sort of an estimate - which I understand. I will probably stop in there with a picture and see if that will be enough for a ball park estimate. I'm just looking to get a general idea so I know whether or not I should just save the $60 in shipping and re-sell it. Figure for $90, I won't be out any $. Thanks for the feedback.

J, Mike is right. I can tell you though, that I had my '17 XLT sport grille, PTMed for $100 up here, and my '20 Lariat sport grille repainted, and mirror caps PTMed for $135 up here. No doubt you'll pay more down there. The shops I go to are the better ones up here that get off on doing custom work. I'm sure there'd be someone by you the same way.

Not much snow yet, but it's staying around

I’m in NJ about to start swapping back my truck. I ended up selling my stuff but will entertain swapping grills + a little cash to somebody who wants a white stx grille with black package emblems. Even the black package lights and wheels. Why not right?

Thanks John. Yeah, that’s a steal for what you paid I feel like. Especially for good work. I have a co-worker who did auto body work for 15 years and still dabbles in it on the side. He just built a new house / barn so his painting setup isn’t ready just yet, so I just have to be patient I guess. I suck at being patient for truck mods... and ugh, you still have snow?? Been nice and in the 60’s here lately. Your truck looks stellar btw, job well done!

Hey Jordan. Thanks! No, snow is gone except for the big piles, those photos were a couple taken earlier. Wish I had a private guy like you, that certainly sounds like the best way.
Still quiet down your way? Stay safe my man!!

Hey Everyone...new F150 owner here. I have an XLT with the chrome package and I was able to pick up an unused STX grille which I like more. I found it on Marketplace for 150 bucks. Only problem is it's the gloss black vs. the Magnetic that my truck is.

I was thinking I have a few options:

1) Get it professionally painted Magnetic. Expensive?
2) Ask a Ford dealership to swap. Doubtful that would happen.
3) Try to sell it and then buy a Magnetic one? The only new ones I've found online are 600 and up and it's unlikely I could sell mine for that much.
4) Do a DIY job and try to turn it matte black with some spray cans and just go with a two-toned look. DIY worries me that it'll look janky.
5) My neighbor has a paint gun. Try to buy the Magnetic paint and DIY paint it myself. Again, DIY worries me a bit and the paint is probably expensive too.

Best case scenario...someone has a Magnetic and needs a black and we can trade, haha. Unlikely, I'm sure. Thanks for any advice you can offer and I'm excited to be a member of the F150 club!

Do you still have your truck/still interested in swapping? I have a 2020 XLT Sport and would def be interested in the grill and maybe the headlights and other black pieces as well. Located in NC so shipping would be required but I would cover the cost of course.

Quick question: When you purchase an OEM oval for the front grille do you need to also buy the emblem nuts to mount it on a new grille? Are the nuts included with a new oval?

Dean,
No they are not included. Let me see if I can find the part number.

Mike

Thanks Mike. From Tasca site I think this is the part # but not 100% sure: W706675-S439
