OEM power steps
My father-in-law purchased a new 2017 King Ranch about a 7-8 months ago. He has had issues with the passenger side step not deploying, and it is getting worse. He has had it at the local dealership numerous times. They have not been able to correct the issue and it's intermittent. Definitely not a maintenance issue / dirt issue. I am not sure exactly what all they have done to attempt to fix it. I believe they may have already replaced the motor, but that did not correct the issue. I am just looking for some info if anyone else has seen this issue specifically. I am not at all confident in the service department at our local dealership. I already mentioned that he should take it to another dealership if they can't fix it or possibly have the dealership replace the OEM boards with AMP boards.
No luck finding anything specific on this subject matter here or Google...

Dang...no one. Still not resolved. I did confirm that the dealership did replace the motor on the passenger side, but the issue with the that side intermittently not deploying was not resolved.
I had a similar issue with my '17 Platinum. I narrowed it down to only having issues if it was hot and the truck had been sitting in the heat for a while. The running board module is on the back of the console. I took it out, popped open the case and inspected it, didn't see anything wrong so I put it back together and reinstalled it. It has been working perfect ever since and that was a year ago this month. I assume that there was a bad connection and when it would get hot, something between the pigtail and the module would expand and not make contact like it should. You may try this as it's simple to get to and it just may fix the issue.
