Thanks team.
TRS sent me the wrong harness for my passenger light 2015, so I have had the amber issue on auto. That being said I have the replacement harness so will get that on hopefully in a few days. The drivers side has held up great. No issues to report, works exactly as expected after about a month of use.

The ballast attaches to the bottom of the LED assembly. I'm not entirely sure what Ford has the ballast controlling (LED ballasts and drivers have lots of purposes). Anyway, you need one per assembly and you can't use the halogen ballast because there is none. Halogen lights don't need ballasts to operate.

As to ordering it separately, it is not sold as part of the LED housing assembly from Ford - different part numbers. That being said, if you bought your headlights used there is a slight chance the ballasts can be included and already attached. Generally this doesn't happen. Be sure to confirm whether you are getting ballasts if you go the used route.

thanks for the explanation Jfabes. Where are people getting the harnesses for led lights? I have seen people discuss various avenues. My 2017 has halogen. I wanted LED. Tried to do the complete led conversion with bulbs all around this weekend. Def not a way I will go back to and melted one of my headlight housings on back. Enough to get go ahead form wifey to covert to oem led headlamps. I am just trying to keep up and see what all is truly needed. Can we get harnesses from ford place or no? If I get led oem headlamps from ford parts, what else needs to be ordered for install? Why would the balast not be a part of the headlamp when purchased.I dont understand why cant just go to dealership and get harnesses and lights and install. Am i missing something? not wanting to beat a dead horse but truly dont have a clue where to start and what to order after reading so many different avenues. I dont mind paying money to have it done right and final.

I don't have all the p/n's in front of me, but there are tons of threads on here that have them. just search "oem led headlights". here are the items you will need. I bought everything through Tasca except the harness, which I bought from Raptor Retrofit.

(1) LED Headlight (Left)

(1) LED Headlight (Right)

(2) Ballasts (they are the same part number for both headlights)

(1) wiring harness "pair" L/R (they are only sold in pairs I think). Two sources are Raptor Retrofit and The Retrofit Source

(6) screws to mount the ballasts to the bottom of the led headlamp housings

You will have to remove the two brackets from the bottom of your halogen lights along with 6 screws and transfer the brackets and screws them to your led lights, the brackets contain mounts that mate to the truck. so you don't have to buy these brackets or screws.

This thread has a lot of good info.

You may or may not need Forescan to do some coding. Personally, I followed the coding and it didn't do anything. I think 2017's are a bit different.

No - the harnesses are strictly an aftermarket thing, FORD never made a conversion harness and the halogen harness will not work for LED lights alone.

You will still need to order the Ballast that were mentioned earlier - they are separate parts from the OEM Light housing

FORD never intended for the LED lights to be retrofitted on a truck that left the factory with halogen lights & that is why you can't go to the dealership and get the correct harness - as far as FORD is concerned THERE IS NO CORRECT HARNESS

Tasca sells OEM parts. I wouldn't think you offended anyone - you won't know if you don't ask

I'm sort of new to forms so I hope this helps for those wondering what you need to order. Went through tasca parts. Hopefully this stream lines the process. Lastly, you'll need to grab the harness from theretrofitsource who is the only one I know is selling the harness. Raptorretrofit is currently not selling them.
