Default Odd refill issue?

I have the EB 2.7 with 23 gal tank. First tank refilled fine. Last tank drove down when miles to empty was about 65 (gauge was almost to Empty) forget how many gallons I used but it was less more than what I had used. Filled up and the pump stopped at around 16.6 gallons squeezed again and stopped so I know it was full.

I am super confused. My 2012 was very accurate but not sure how I could fill up and be almost say 6-7 gallons shy of what is being shown.

Thoughts?

On my Platinum I can check the trip in the cluster and it will give gallons used. Do you have that option to compare amount pumped to used.

I've noticed the DTE and fuel gauge in a lot of cars are conservative these days. For instance, my Tacoma has a 21 gallon tank. Multiple times I've had the needle below E, warning light on, and only put in 17 gallons. I wonder if they do it as another level of security against running out of fuel.

Actaully I forgot. But it was more than what was used to fill up.

LOL I'd run my Tacoma down to what I swear was nothing. I mean 1 step away from trying to run out of gas. The most fuel I ever pumped into it was 19.3 gallons. The norm after driving it with the light on for 20 or 30 miles was 16.8. I have numerous entries on a spreadsheet at home when I was tracking fuel usage for work that are listed between 16.6 and 16.9. Pretty much every fill-up for two years.

It's an older one, but on my 2001 F150 I hit E and put about 20 into a 25 gallon tank. I could usually go about 50 miles more, never ran out. I read somewhere (don't remember) that E is usually 20% of the tank.
